Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park

Let me just say wow. This place is so beautiful and fun. We started out our day in Palm Springs where we ventured from modern home to modern home. We then grabbed a load of water and headed to Joshua Tree National park. I must note it’s summer and we’re in the desert. It was hot, but it’s a dry heat. (just drink loads of water) My eyes were so delighted, I don’t think we saw a single vista which wasn’t beautiful as far as the eye can see. We climbed rocks and hiked through the forest of Joshua Trees. Great times.

As we were leaving, we met a nice family from Melbourne Australia and we traded family photos. The Dad asked me where is the Joshua Tree. He was looking at a map. I said here’s one. He said no THE Joshua Tree. I said no this is a Joshua Tree, he said you mean that forest of trees we just drove through were all Joshua Trees? ME: Yes, that’s why they named the park Joshua Tree.

Palm Springs Modern

Palm Springs Modern

Palm Springs will not disappoint. This place is fantastic. Modern mid-century buildings everywhere. This makes me so happy.

We arrived around 2:30 after flying and driving all day. After we settled into the Hotel Zoso, it was time to explore the first stop, the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center. Karen and Lexy braved the heat with me. (lol it’s a dry heat.) The museum featured many architects and their designs. A must-see if you’re surrounded by modern architecture. It’s so refreshing seeing modern designs held up and revered. My daughter said she really enjoyed the museum, which tells me she gets it.

After the visiting the museum we ventured into town on foot and took in many designs. I feel like I’m walking through a living museum. So glad we added this to our trip.

Making the best of a Flight Cancelation

Making the best of a Flight Cancelation

Well, I said I’ll post about the ugly. We had our flight cancelled at the end of the day Sunday, of course this was after booking a super unique AIRBnB with a bummer of a cancelation policy. That sort of killed our LA day but oh well. The good news is the weather seems a bit calmer and we are all systems go. (so far)

As the sun was heading towards evening. I decided to grab a quick photos of Buck of Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on 66. Its nice living in a city with such unique places.

Blue Sky Bank solo Photo-show

Blue Sky Bank solo Photo-show

Quick portrait, just after hanging my photos.

Earlier this year I was asked if I would be a featured artist at the Blue Sky Bank in the Boxyard. I of course jumped on the opportunity to share my works. I have a love a dance, with its beauty and grace. The deadline snuck up on me so fast I decided to work with a series of images I had previously made. I have everything printed on metal to pay homage to the metal shipping containers which make up the box yards’ structure.

The opening was a success and good times had by all. This show is still up so if you’re nearby stop in and enjoy the photos. Oh and you can purchase the images if you would like. Let me know what you think.
